If you travel west from Portland on
Oregon Highway 26 to Highway 6 (Wilson River Highway) towards
Tillamook, you will find "Fox Hollow Antique Stoves " nestled on
the banks of Gales Creek between mile post 41 and 40.
You won't find a sign stating "this
is the place", as Gary Davis relies on word of mouth and
reputation to keep the business going that he's been doing since
the 1970's.
Occupying a shop, a new showroom, and
numerous outbuildings on his property, the process of restoring
a stove can be as simple as wire brushing and polishing, or as
complicated as a complete disassembly, repair work as needed,
and nickel work done using the old style, done by Oregon Plating
formerly owned by Gary. Restoring antique wood stoves is a dirty
job, but as you can see, the results are well worth it.
